Friendship Knot Bedspread Free Crochet Pattern










From the 1930s, this design is fashioned after the Friendship Knot
Quilt. A great old pattern that uses good old bedspread weight cotton
thread, also known as size 10. The finished size of spread this pattern
makes is not noted (perhaps double bed size). You can make one square
and figure how many you need for the size spread or throw you want to
make.

Materials: Size 10 cotton crochet thread - 20 skeins, 800 yds each and
size 7 steel crochet hook


1. Chain 8 and join with a slip st to form a ring; 16 sc in ring, join with slip
st in first sc.

2. Ch 3, 1 dc in same st as ch 3, *popcorn in next sc, 2 dc in next sc; repeat
from * 6 times, popcorn in last sc, join with a slip st in top of ch 3.

3. Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3, * ch 3, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in popcorn, 1 dc
in each of next 2 dc, 1 dc in popcorn, 3 dc in next dc; repeat from *
around, end with 1 dc in popcorn, join as before.

4. Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc over ch 3 below (corner),
10 dc over next 10 dc; repeat from * around, join.

5. Slip st into top of each next 2 dc below, ch 5, sk 2 dc, 1 dc in next (last)
dc, * ch 2, 1 dc in corner space, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc below, ch 2,
skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc (space), 4 more spaces to next corner;
repeat from * around, join with slip st in 3rd st of ch 5.

6. Ch 3, 2 dc in space below, 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next space, popcorn in next
dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner space, popcorn in next dc, * 2 dc in
next space, 1 dc in next dc; repeat from * 5 times, 2 dc in next space,
popcorn in next dc, work corner as before, continue around, join.

7. Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * popcorn in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 2
dc, 1 dc in popcorn, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all
in corner space, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 1 d c in popcorn, 1 dc in
each of next 2 dc, 1 popcorn in each of next 14 dc; repeat from *
around, join.

8. Slip st into next dc, ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, * popcorn in next st, 1
dc in each of next 4 sts, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) all in corner space. 4 dc
over next 4 sts, popcorn in next st, 5 dc over next 5 sts, popcorn in
next st, 8 dc over next 8 sts, popcorn in next st, 5 dc over next 5
sts; repeat from * around, end with a popcorn in last st.

9. Ch 3, 1 dc in next st, * popcorn in next st, 9 dc over next 9 sts, work corner
as before, 9 dc over next 9 sts, popcorn in next st, 5 dc over next 5
sts, popcorn in next st, 2 dc over next 2 sts, popcorn in
next st, 5 dc over next 5 sts; repeat from * around, and join.

10. Ch 3, 13 dc to corner, corner as before, 14 dc over next 14 sts, popcorn in next
st, 8 dc over next 8 sts, popcorn in next st, 14 dc to corner,
continue around, join.

11. Ch 5, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st (a space), ch 2, 4 more spaces to next
corner, (ch2, 1 dc, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2) all in corner space, 1 dc in next
dc, 4 spaces, ch 2, skip 2 sts, popcorn in next st, 4 dc over next 4
sts, 5 spaces to corner, continue around and join.

12. Ch 3, 2 dc in space, 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc (space over space), 3 more spaces, work corner as in
round 11, 1 dc in next dc, 4 spaces over next 4 spaces, 2 dc in next
space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 sts, 6 dc over next 6 sts, ch 2,
skip 2 sts, 7 dc over next 2 spaces, continue around and join.

13. Ch 5, skip 2 sts, 4 dc over next 4 sts, 3 dc over space, 4 spaces to corner,
work corner as before, 4 spaces, a group of 7 dc, 2 spaces, a group of
6 dc, 2 psaces, a group of 7 dc, continue around, join.

14. Ch 3, 2 dc in space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2, a group of 7 dc in next dc,
(2 dc ch 3, 2 dc) in corner space, 4 dc over next space, 3 spaces, a
group of 7 dc, a space, a group of 8 dc, a space (center), 8 dcc, a space, 7 dc,
continue around, join.

15. Ch 3, 3 dc over next 3 sts, 2 dc in space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 sts, a
group of 7 dc, 2 spaces, ch 2, skip 2, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts,
popcorn in last dc, corner as before, popcorn in first dc, 2 dc in next
2 sts, 3 spaces, a group of 7 dc, a space, a group of 11 dc, space over
center space below, a group of 11 dc, continue around, join.

16. Ch 3, 6 dc over next 6 dc, 5 spaces, ch 2, skip space, 4 dc and a popcorn to
corner, corner as before, popcorn and 4 dc over group below, 5 spaces,
ch 2, skip space, a group fo 8 dc, 3 spaces, a group of 8 dc, continue
around, join.

17. Slip st in top of each of next 2 dc, ch 3, 4 dc over 4 dc below, 8 spaces, work
corner as before, 8 spaces, a group of 5 dc, 5 spaces, a group of 5 dc,
contine around, join, fasten off.

Sew the blocks together carefully with the same cotton. Work a row of
loops of ch-5 loosely round edge.

Fringe: Wrap thread around an 8-inch cardboard, cut at one end. Tie a
fringe of 5 strands each in each loop around edge.

Free 1955 Multi-color Doily Crochet Pattern in 2 Sizes

MATERIALS:

To make a doily approximately 15 inches in diameter: Size 10 Cotton Crochet Thread in Pink, Green, Yellow and White and a Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

To make a doily approximately 10 inches in diameter: Size 30 Crochet Cotton Thread in Pink, Green, Yellow and White and a Steel Crochet Hook No. 12.

(Tina’s Note: In this pattern sdc stands for short double crochet and is the same as a half double crochet; trc is a treble crochet.)

1st Rnd: With Yellow ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 23 dc in ring, join in 3rd st of ch, cut Yellow.

2nd Rnd: Attach Green, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each st (24 sc), join, cut Green.

3rd Rnd: Attach Pink, sc in same space, * ch 20, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, repeat from * 10 times, ch 20, sc in next sc, join in 1st sc.

4th Rnd: Over next loop work 1 sc, 1 sdc (sdc: thread over hook, insert in space, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), 2 dc, 17 trc, 2 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from beginning 11 times, join, cut Pink.

5th Rnd: Attach Green in 13th st of any scallop, ch 4, 2 trc in same space keeping last loop of each trc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * ch 5, cluster st in same space (cluster st: 3 trc in same space keeping last loop of each trc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time), repeat from * once, * cluster st in 13th st of next scallop, ch 5, cluster st in same space, ch 5, cluster st in same space, repeat from * 10 times, join and cut Green.

6th Rnd: Attach White in any ch 5 loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, trc in same space as beginning (to brings thread in position for next rnd).

7th Rnd: * Ch 8, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 4, trc in trc.

8th Rnd: * Ch 8, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 8, sl st in trc, cut White.

9th Rnd: Attach Yellow in any sc, ch 3, 7 dc over next loop, dc in next sc, 7 dc over next loop, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch, cut Yellow.

10th Rnd: Attach Green in same space, ch 4, 1 trc in each of the next 3 dc keeping last loop of each trc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, * ch 4, 1 trc in each of the next 4 dc keeping last loop of each trc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, repeat from * all around, ch 4, join in top of 1st cluster, cut Green.

11th Rnd: Attach White in any loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around, ending with ch 2, dc in same space as beginning.

12th - 13th Rnds: * Ch 6, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending each round with ch 3, dc in dc.

14th Rnd: Same as last round but ending with ch 6, sc in dc, cut thread.

15th Rnd: Attach Yellow in any sc, ch 3, 4 dc over next loop, * dc in next sc, 4 dc over next loop, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch, cut Yellow.

16th Rnd: Attach Green and work 1 sc in each dc, join, cut Green.

17th Rnd: Attach Pink in any sc, sc in same space, * ch 20, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sc, repeat from * all around ending with ch 20, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, join.

18th Rnd: Over next loop work 1 sc, 1 sdc, 2 dc, 19 trc, 2 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from beginning all around, join, cut thread.

19th Rnd: Attach Green in 14th st of any scallop, ch 4 (counts as part of 1st cluster st), cluster st in same space, ch 5, cluster st in same space, * 2 cluster sts with ch 5 between in 14th st of next scallop, repeat from * all around, join, cut Green.

20th Rnd: Attach White in any loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, trc in same space as beginning.

21st Rnd: * Ch 7, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, trc in trc.

22nd Rnd: * Ch 8, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 4, trc in trc.

23rd Rnd: Same as last round but ending with ch 8, sl st in trc, cut thread.

34th Rnd: Attach Yellow in any sc, ch 3, 6 dc over next loop, * dc in next sc, 6 dc over next loop, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch, cut thread.

25th Rnd: Attach Green in same space, sc in same space, * ch 5, skip 1 dc, 1 trc in each of the next 4 dc keeping last loop of each trc on hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, ch 4, sl st in top of cluster just made for picot, ch 5, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, join, cut thread and weave in ends.
