1940s Queen Anne's Lace Motif Free Crochet Pattern

Use for tablecloths, bedspreads, runners, etc.
MATERIALS: Crochet, size 20, and steel crochet hook No. 8, motif measures 4 3/4" in diameter and requires about 24 yds of thread. Fill-in motif requires about 5 yds. Allow extra thread for edging. (Can also use size 10 thread and a size 7 steel crochet hook, though motifs will be different size.)
FIRST MOTIF
Ch 6, join with sl st.
1ST RND: Ch 6, * tr in ring, ch 2,. Repeat from * 6 more times, join to 4th st of ch-6 (8sps).
2ND RND: Ch 4, 4 tr in 1st sp, * ch 2, 5 tr in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 4th st of ch-4.
3RD RND: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, tr in next 4 tr, * tr in 1st ch of ch-2, ch 3, tr in next ch of same ch-2, tr in next 5 tr. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to 4th st of ch-4; sl st in 1st tr of group.
4TH RND: Ch 4; make tr in next 4 tr, working off together as for a cluster; * ch 4, 5 tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 4, skip 1st tr of next group; make tr in next 5 tr, working off together as for a cluster. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-4 to tip of first cluster.
5TH RND: Ch 8, * skip 1st 3 ch of ch-4, tr in next ch, tr in next 5 tr, tr in 1st ch of next ch-4, ch 4, tr in tip of cluster, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th st of ch-8.
6TH RND: * Ch 12, skip 1st tr of next group, tr in next 5 tr, working off together as for a cluster; ch 12, sc in the single tr between groups. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-12 to base of first ch-12 (16 loops). Fasten off.
SECOND MOTIF
Work 1st 5 rnds as for 1st motif.
6TH RND: Ch 12, skip 1st tr of next group; tr in next 5 tr, working off together as for a cluster; ch 6, sl st in 1st ch-12 loop on 1st motif (always keep right side of work on top), ch 6, sc in next single tr on 2nd motif, ch 6, sl st in next ch-12 loop on 1st motif, ch 6, make a cluster back on 2nd motif. Complete this rnd as for 1st motif (no more joinings). Join 2 ch-loops of all adjacent sides in this manner, thus leaving 2 loops free between joinings, for fill-in motifs to be made later.
FILL IN MOTIF
1st RND: Ch 8, tr in 8th ch from hook, ch 4, tr in same place, ch 4, tr in same place, ch 4, join to 4th ch of ch-8 (4 sps).
2ND RND: Ch 4, 6 tr in 1st sp, * ch 5, join to 4th st of ch-4; sl st in 1st tr.
3RD RND: Ch 4; make tr in next 4 tr, working off together as for a cluster; ch 5, join to 1st ch-12 loop of a large motif (as large motifs were joined), * ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop back on fill in motif, ch 5, join to 2nd ch-12 loop of same large motif, ch 5, work a 5-tr cluster back on fill in motif, ch 5, join to 1st ch-12 loop of next large motif. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.
EDGING

Star Ruffle Doily Free Crochet Pattern




Materials: Crochet Cotton 30 Size 30, 375 yards and Steel Crochet Hook No. 12


Doily measures about 7 inches without ruffle when using size 30 thread. A lower number thread and higher number hook will make a larger doily (for example, size 10 thread and size 7 steel hook).


Ch 8, join to form a ring and work 16 sc in ring, join.


2nd Row: Ch 8, tr in same space, * skip 1 sc, 2 tr with ch 4 between in next sc, repeat from * 6 times, join in 4th st of ch.

Free Santa Claus Crochet Pattern in Worsted Weight Yarn


Finished Santa is about 11 inches tall. You can get an idea of gauge by the beard starting chain is about 3 inches for 20 chain stitches with the No. 1 steel hook. Adorable traditional Santa Claus!

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn 3 oz. Red, 1 oz. each Black and White
Size G crochet hook, steel crochet hook No.1
11 inch white hair doll, 4 snaps, polyester fiberfill or other filling
Suit and hat are worked with G hook. Boots are worked with steel hook No. 1
JACKET: With Red ch 46, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each remaining st of ch, turn each row.
2ND ROW: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc, decrease in next 2 sts (to decrease: * yarn over hook, insert in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and work off 2 loops, repeat from * once, yarn over and work off all loops at one time), 1 dc in each of the next 18 dc, decrease in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the last 11 sts.
3RD ROW: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc, decrease in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 16

BOOT: Upper section: With Black ch 19, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.
2ND ROW: Working in sc, decrease 1 sc at the beg and end of row. Work 1 row even. Repeat the last 2 rows once.
6TH ROW: Same as 2nd row. Work 2 rows even.
9TH ROW: 1 sc in each of the 1st 5 sc, 2 s d c in each of the next 2 sc ( s d c: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull loop through, yarn over and work off all loops at one time), 1 sc in each of the last 5 sc.
10TH ROW: 1 sc in each of the 1st 5 sc, 1 s d c in next s d c, 2 s d c in each of the next 2 s d c, 1 s d c in next s d c, 1 sc in each of the last 5 sts.
NEXT 2 ROWS: Work 1 sc in each sc and 1 s d c in each s d c working 2 s d c in each of the 2 s d c at center of each row, cut yarn. Sew the 2 side edges together.
SOLES: With Black ch 7, 3 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in last st, working on opposite side of ch, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, join in 1st sc, cut yarn. Sew sole to upper section. Work another boot in same manner. Sew boots to leg of pants overlapping the boots. Place pants on doll and stuff. Place jacket on doll and stuff upper part with filling.
EYEBROWS: Cut two 1/2 inch strips of White and glue in position.
MOUSTACHE: Cut three-1 inch length of White. Sew together at center, comb and trim. Glue in position.
BEARD: With White and No. 1 hook, ch 20 (about 3 inches), cut yarn. Cut sixty- 4 inch lengths of White. Pull 3 of these lengths through each st of ch. Fold lengths in half, comb and trim as illustrated. Place in position and tack at intervals to hair and collar. Place hat and belt in position.

Friendship Knot Bedspread Free Crochet Pattern










From the 1930s, this design is fashioned after the Friendship Knot
Quilt. A great old pattern that uses good old bedspread weight cotton
thread, also known as size 10. The finished size of spread this pattern
makes is not noted (perhaps double bed size). You can make one square
and figure how many you need for the size spread or throw you want to
make.

Materials: Size 10 cotton crochet thread - 20 skeins, 800 yds each and
size 7 steel crochet hook


1. Chain 8 and join with a slip st to form a ring; 16 sc in ring, join with slip
st in first sc.

2. Ch 3, 1 dc in same st as ch 3, *popcorn in next sc, 2 dc in next sc; repeat
from * 6 times, popcorn in last sc, join with a slip st in top of ch 3.

3. Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3, * ch 3, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in popcorn, 1 dc
in each of next 2 dc, 1 dc in popcorn, 3 dc in next dc; repeat from *
around, end with 1 dc in popcorn, join as before.

4. Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc over ch 3 below (corner),
10 dc over next 10 dc; repeat from * around, join.

5. Slip st into top of each next 2 dc below, ch 5, sk 2 dc, 1 dc in next (last)
dc, * ch 2, 1 dc in corner space, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc below, ch 2,
skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc (space), 4 more spaces to next corner;
repeat from * around, join with slip st in 3rd st of ch 5.

Sew the blocks together carefully with the same cotton. Work a row of
loops of ch-5 loosely round edge.

Fringe: Wrap thread around an 8-inch cardboard, cut at one end. Tie a
fringe of 5 strands each in each loop around edge.

Easy Adorable Thread Baby Bib Crochet Pattern





MATERIALS: Size 10 Crochet Thread (two colors for contrasting border) and No. 7 Steel Crochet Hook

1st Row: With Main Color, ch 38, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row: Working in back loop of st only throughout, 1 sc in each of the next 18 sc, 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 18 sc, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row: 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

4th Row: 1 sc in each sc to center, 3 sc in center st, 1 sc in each remaining st, ch 1, turn.

5th-50th Rows: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows until there are 50 rows, fasten off.

TRIM: Join Contrasting Color in 1st sc at neck and work a row of sc all around, working 3 sc in each corner; join, ch 3, turn.
